about

The first full-length from Columbus, Ohio's Sunrise Reset, this is an album inspired by and indebted to the now meaningless term "indie rock," a stripped down, simple affair for the band. Recorded at home, with live vocals patched into a microphone line snaking from an upstairs bedroom through a laundry shoot and into a basement so as not to bleed into the live drums, it's an album about leaving and staying, in all their various forms.

Track Name: A Million From A Billion
I don’t care if I go to jail it’s all fucked up so I might as well
I don’t care about the truth it’s all I do is take bad news
I believe that life is dumb they’ll hand it out to anyone
Waste it on the wastes of space got good health throw it all away
I don’t know what I’m sayin
Everything is wonderful and I’ve been happy
Feeling great and lucky
Feeling like a million bucks subtracted from a billion
Catch me still complaining
Everything is wonderful and I’ve been happy
Jealous feeling stupid
Feeling like a million bucks subtracted from a billion
I don’t care if I go to jail it’s all fucked up so I might as well
I don’t care about the truth it’s all I do is take bad news
I believe that life is dumb they’ll hand it out to anyone
Waste it on the wastes of space got good health throw it all away
Walk over to my house x3
I just stopped by I’ll be leaving
Can I get you a drink?
Just some water I’m so damn thirsty
Just some water I’m so damn thirsty
Just some water I’m so damn thirsty
Track Name: One of Us
Well it’ll make you happy and it’ll make you sad
And it’ll make you wish things that you never had
It’ll make you tired and it might make you grey
And it’ll be the ending, the ending of this day
Well it’ll make you hopeless it’ll make you vain
And it’ll get you hoping for the way it was someday
Well all the things you said to yourself when the time was weak
It’ll be the very thing you need of which you cannot speak
Well people on a plane go round and round
Me I’m too scared to even leave the ground
And people on a hill go tumbling down
But I’m too low to see the way around
See see it’s a great big forest
If you’re gonna be somebody call us
I can’t believe that you could get lost
Not with all your knowledge and the way you come across
Oh can’t you see it’s a great big world
Happy for the people and their little girl
I can’t believe that you could get lost
I always thought you were one of us
Well take the easy way out
You take the easy way out
Well take the easy way out
You always take the easy way out
Well people on a plane go round and round
Me I’m too scared to even leave the ground
I can’t believe that you could get lost
I always thought you were one of us
Track Name: Invisible Rope
West side white trash
Smoking weed on a bicycle path
I hope you get what you need
I hope your life can find some peace
Well seventeen, fourteen
Young and love and dangerously
I hope you give everything you got
I hope you remember everything I forgot
Slow down or speed up
Self-medicate just to feel enough
Go outside on a nice day
Stare at something and feel your face
It’ll take all your money it’ll take your time
There but for dumb luck go I
You’ll never go nowhere and your life’s a joke
You’ll end up dead too young or broke
Hate the world cause it’s in your face
Never occurred you could leave this place
Tied to yourself with invisible rope
You sound stupid what you mean by hope
Oh white boy, humid nights
I too dreamed of another life
Left this town so I changed course
And when I came back too different of course
Well let’s say, thirteen
We didn’t pack up we didn’t leave
Always kind of figured eventually
Can’t see any difference between you and me
Hate the world cause it’s in your face
Never occurred you could leave this place
Tied to yourself with invisible rope
You sound stupid what you mean by hope
Christmas comes in February
Got mom’s taxes pocket’s heavy
Went and got a brand new TV
We forgot the fridge was empty
Track Name: Cut and Dry
Well I don't care where you've been
That's a lie but I still wonder when
Back when I was clever
When those lungs hung high and weathered
Wasn't how you planned it
Everybody dies you're goddam right
Well I’ve been known to be cut and dry
Life’s not grey it’s black and white
So tell me all about your favorite life
Where the foothills bleed and the mountains sigh
Now tell me all about the one that died
Where the clouds are grey and you ran all night
And pick it up to see if it still feels right
It’s an empty light but it burns all night
We'll I don't know bout my life
I wasn't eager to find out
There's no easy answers
But you'll surely have your doubts
Talk to me Tell me who I am carefully now begin again
Forget the past Tell me who I’ll be quietly what became of me
Well I’ve been known to be someone’s life
You said it right, it’s a goddamn lie
They’ll hang you out to dry on any line
When the wind comes by and the sun feels fine
But you believe the lie you spread around
Gave it back to us like its lost and found
And pick it up to see if it still feels right
It’s an empty light but it burns all night
Track Name: Westward
Have you ever been to South Dakota?
Did you go there at the close of summer?
Did you take a trip with your older sister?
Did the badlands close in and whisper?
Did you see the bison on the range?
Was it waving wheat and golden grain?
Did you feel the pull of empty spaces?
And come back east with hope and balance?
Have you ever been to Idaho?
You take the mountain pass in the snow?
Did you give birth to your only daughter?
Does you lumberyard still churn and whisper?
Have you ever been to Yellowstone?
Complete with your two sons in tow?
Did you see the man in all his glory?
Preparing for his life alone?
I don’t believe that I will live to see the day
When the sunlight in the morning is splashed across your face
You don’t need me to say what you know is true
If depression is the answer is the question killing you?
Four wheels on the road, two feet on the highway
Working all these years saying when’s it coming my way
Remember when I said hey you gotta make your own way?
Living other people lives that ain’t no way to live
You can walk all day and night
Believe me it’s alright if that’s how you wage the fight
But don’t tell don’t tell me don’t tell me how old you feel
Cause it sounds like giving up and that weren’t part of the deal
Track Name: Relativity
Turned off the TV to drive to the ocean
That’s 2000 miles of pure devotion
Well, I climbed up the mountain you swam in its water
You said isn’t it strange I thought this place would be hotter
Cause I know yourself, I know yourself
Better than anyone else better than anyone else
You know myself, you know myself
Better than anyone else better than anyone else
Fourth of July hidden coast in our long sleeves
We shivered and drove up north to hug on some tall trees
Well I kicked off my soles again I put them up for Seattle
And finished it barefoot the miles ticked off, unraveled
I know you well, I know you well
Better than anyone else better than anyone else
You know me well, you know me well
Better than anyone will better than anyone will
Thinkin bout one day I’ll be too old
Hoping there’s a secret in the road
With relative time we’ll rage against the light, we know
The faster we go the slower we get old
Track Name: Ohio
Being born in Ohio tells you how a life will go
Humid city streets at dusk friends and cars all full of rust
And your mother’s full of doubt cause your dad keeps runnin out
Always lookin to move west where the sun don’t ever set
There’s a city on the shore thirty miles to the north
Country exurbs all abound your best friend’s fathers dying out
Go to school or blow it up ultimatums made you tough
Dreaming of old city streets the family frame keeps growing weak
Ohio x4
We used to work for the college on the weekend
Let us keep our long hair like a vagrant
Eventually our sister went and got married
Drink it up cause there’s gonna be some babies
We used to work for the college on the weekend
Come home just to sit and stare at nothing
Stood up to leave, “I don’t wanna be a bother”
Looked at me, “Do you remember our father?
And how we used to think that we were gonna save him?
Or was it ever the other way around?
Sometimes I don’t like myself for nothin’
So I drive around and around.
Took a rabbit in a cage with a shotgun
Couldn’t stand its eyes lookin’ out
Every night it’s just me and television
So I gotta find a better way out…
Ain’t no city close to me country boys in boot cut tees
Fifty years stuck in the past shotgun racks and cowboy hats
Said you were a transient, that don’t make any fucking sense
Seven years stuck on the farm I still got these old skinny arms
Track Name: Northern Lights
I might just die outside to see the way the trees gonna look at me
Oh that’s alright
You said, decide, gonna take everything you need I’m gonna bury it alive
Oh that’s not nice
I might set fire to the house and all the goddamn mess I have acquired
And that’s alright
So try to find some part of the world that agrees in itself; no meaning
Oh alright
I will chase the northern lights
And be very tired from the drive
Wherever there are footprints on the glass
Well I will not wait for life to pass
I know you you’ll move to California
And you know me I’ll visit in the summer
And all good things will end before you want em
But I try not to think about that
So have some babies
Give em a name take em outside and keep em dirty
And I will accept the things I don’t want to change
But I will not think about that
I will chase the northern lights
And be very tired from the drive
Wherever there are footprints on the glass
Well I will not wait for life to pass
Track Name: Nature vs Nurture
Out of the womb so slippery and smooth
There’s things in the bedroom that you couldn’t choose
Your head was a vortex of sound from the left
But the music was nothing so have some regrets
And you ran into loneliness blood from your lips
Moving mountains of pavement face first with a kiss
Move to the mountains or into the sea
There’s a body within you that’s dying to breathe
Made peace with the narcissist’s vision of love
It’s burned on your tongue it’s all of the above
So rip out your lungs and build up the flesh
From the bruises and blood that you got when you left
And your brother some giant with holes in his heart
Skin too thin to be eager, too bruised from the start
But you were natured or nurtured to one of a kind
They taught us to hate so we hated just fine
And we’re all gonna die
So it’s all gonna be alright
Being born slowly with looks from the docs
Mother was yelling, “He’s twice what you’ve got”
Growing up awkward with no music on
The lunchroom was empty and full of no one
You ran into loneliness chasing a lie
Bleeding from the mouth but you never cried
They took you away and you still believed that
Change is always better and change you always need
How’s a life lesson taste on the tongue
Is it sweet after sour and salty from the run?
Bruises are empty, blood is still free
Don’t tell them anything that you wanna keep
You walked in the front door hoping to be
A new place new person new people to meet
Nature or nurture just one and a kind
They taught you to hate so you hated just fine
And we’re all gonna die
So it’s all gonna be alright
